2023 Stuff the Bus

2023 STUFF THE BUS TOUR REPORT
By: Jeff Vanderhoff

Once again, our annual “Stuff The Bus” tour was a huge success. This year we delivered a truck load of food to the Bloomingdale Methodist Church food bank.

The day started off with a few light showers but the skies cleared quickly. By the time we started the tour, the sun was shining. Six Model A’s started out to meet up with four other Model A’s waiting for us at the Rockaway Valley Methodist Church. Scott and Alison Allison
got a surprise on the tour. We pulled up to the church and parked in the cemetery. Alison’s dad,
George Scott, who was a member of our club, is buried there. He is also the man who sold my
dad and me my Model A coupe nearly 40 years ago. I’m sure George was very happy to see the
10 cars.

While at the cemetery, I noticed we had three cars on their first club tour. There was John
and Helen Hunter’s newly restored slant window four door. Dick Seabury showed up in his
newly restored delivery wagon. And for the first time, our new club member Mike Connelly
came to his first tour in his 1928 leather back. This was his fathers car which he restored in the
1960’s. Welcome Mike!!! What a great feeling to see new cars on the tour!!

After visiting the church bazaar, we then drove through the back roads of Boonton Town-
ship to Bloomingdale. When we arrived at the Bloomingdale Methodist Church, we were
greeted by Nicole and Forrest Chetnick who organize and handle the day to day activities at the
food bank. They were so grateful to accept the food our club donated to them.

Nicole showed usaround and explained how they operate the food bank and distribute
the food to families in town. Thank you, Nicole and Forrest, for what you do for the commu-
nity.

We then left and went for a lunch of Mexican food and drink in town. Evelyn and I
would like to thank everyone who donated food to the food drive and who came out to this
event. It’s always a great feeling when you can help another person. Until next year, thanks
again.
